Ä°zdeniz is a municipality company which is responsible in short distance sea transport and ferry terminals within the Gulf of Ä°zmir, Turkey. ( ''Ä°z'' is the first syllable of the name Ä°zmir and ''-deniz'' means sea.) History The company was established in 1992 as a subsidiary of Ä°zmir Municipality. In 1999, it was renamed as ''Ä°zdeniz''. In 2000, 104 staff members as well as 11 ferries (8 for the passengers and 3 for the vehicles) were handed over to Ä°zdeniz from the TDÄ° (Turkish Sea Enterprise, a governmental company) which was responsible in ferry communication in the Gulf of Ä°zmir up to 2000. After 2000 three ferries went out of service. Services At the moment, the company has 13 ferries (10 for the passengers and three for the vehicles.) Ferry Terminal
A passenger terminal is a structure in a port which services passengers boarding and leaving water vessels such as ferry, ferries, cruise ships and ocean liners. Depending on the types of vessels serviced by the terminal, it may be named (for example) ferry terminal, cruise terminal, marine terminal or maritime passenger terminal. Karşıyaka Ferry Terminal () is ferry terminal in Karşıyaka, İzmir on the Gulf of İzmir. Located along Cemal Gürsel Avenue, at the southern end of the Karşıyaka Çarşı, İzdeniz operates commuter ferry to service to Alsancak, Konak, Göztepe and Üçkuyular. Karşıyaka Terminal was originally built in 1884, and promoted the growth of Karşıyaka's population. The existing terminal building was built in the 1940s-1950s. Konak Ferry Terminal ( , or ''Konak Vapur İskelesi'') to differentiate it from the older Konak Pier, is a passenger ferry terminal in central Konak, İzmir on the Gulf of İzmir. It is located at the west end of the ''Kent Tarihi Park'', west of Konak Square and Mustafa Kemal Sahil Boulevard. İzdeniz operates commuter ferry service to destinations in Karşıyaka, Bayraklı, Balçova as well as within Konak. Transfer is available to the İzmir Metro at Konak station as well Tram İzmir service at Konak İskele tram station. There is also a transfer to ESHOT buses. Pasaport Ferry Terminal () is a passenger ferry terminal in Konak, İzmir, Konak, İzmir on the Gulf of İzmir. It is located at the northern end of the historic Pasaport Quay on the southwestern side of Cumhuriyet Square (İzmir), Cumhuriyet Square.
