Đức Cơ Camp (also known as Đức Cơ Special Forces Camp or Chu Dron Special Force camp) is a former U.S. Army and Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) base west of Pleiku in Gia Lai Province, central Vietnam. The base was located on QL-19 13 km from the Cambodian border and approximately 55 km west of Pleiku. History The Operational Detachment Alpha-224, 5th Special Forces Group first established a base at Đức Cơ in December 1964 to monitor communist infiltration along the Ho Chi Minh Trail. In late May 1965 the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) besieged the camp which was defended by the 5th Special Forces Detachment A-215 and Civilian Irregular Defense Group program (CIDG) forces. The 320th Division or Đồng Bằng Division (Vietnamese: ''Sư đoàn Đồng Bằng'', Delta Division) is a formation and one of the six original "Steel and Iron Divisions" of the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN). It was established in January 1951. First Indochina War The Division was the target of Operation Mouette, launched on 15 October 1953, with the aim "to fix and destroy a major element of the Chu Luc before Giáp could deploy it." The route for the Viet Minh between Thanh Hoa and the Red River Delta contained a crossroads at Lai Cac which was targeted by the operation. The Paris Peace Accords (), officially the Agreement on Ending the War and Restoring Peace in Viet Nam (), was a peace agreement signed on January 27, 1973, to establish peace in Vietnam and end the Vietnam War. Vietnamese Rangers
The Vietnamese Rangers (), commonly known as the ARVN Rangers or Vietnamese Ranger Corp (VNRC), were the light infantry of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. Trained and assisted by American Special Forces and Ranger advisers, the Vietnamese Rangers infiltrated beyond enemy lines in search and destroy missions.
