Đinh Đăng Định
Đinh Đăng Định (20 April 1920 – 11 August 2013) was the personal photographer to Ho Chi Minh. He also co-founded the Vietnam Artistic Photographer's Association (VAPA) with Lâm Tấn Tài. Early years Định was born in Kiêu Kỵ, Hanoi, Vietnam. Career Anti-French Resistance (1936–1945) In 1936, Định joined the anti-French resistance. However, it wasn't until 1941 when Ho Chi Minh set up at anti-Japanese base at Pác Bó that Định was allowed to photograph political activities. Personal photographer to Ho Chi Minh (1945 - 1969) Định became the personal photographer to Ho Chi Minh, taking the first official portrait of him on 2 September 1945 in Hanoi. The portrait was meant to be distributed to the public to publicise his identity. Lâm Tấn Tài (1935 - 2001) was a documentary photographer during the Vietnam War. Early life Lâm was born in the Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province and moved to the North in 1946 to join the revolution. Career After studying photography at the Lomonosov Moscow State University and Archaeology in Hanoi University, Lâm was drafted and sent south to photograph the Ho Chi Minh trail in 1965. Lâm notably also photographed the Cu Chi tunnels and the Tet Offensive The Tet Offensive was a major escalation and one of the largest military campaigns of the Vietnam War. First Indochina War
The First Indochina War (generally known as the Indochina War in France, and as the Anti-French Resistance War in Vietnam, and alternatively internationally as the French-Indochina War) was fought between French Fourth Republic, France and Việt Minh (Democratic Republic of Vietnam), and their respective allies, from 19 December 1946 until 21 July 1954. Communist Party Of Vietnam
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) is the founding and sole legal party of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Founded in 1930 by Hồ Chí Minh, the CPV became the ruling party of North Vietnam in 1954 and then all of Vietnam after the collapse of the South Vietnamese government following the Fall of Saigon in 1975. Ho Chi Minh Trail
The Ho Chi Minh Trail (), also called Annamite Range Trail () was a Military logistics, logistical network of roads and trails that ran from North Vietnam to South Vietnam through the kingdoms of Kingdom of Laos, Laos and Cambodia (1953–1970), Cambodia. The system provided support, in the form of manpower and materiel, to the Viet Cong (or "VC") and the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN), during the Vietnam War. Construction for the network began following the North Vietnamese invasion of Laos in July 1959.
