Đinh Liễn
Đinh Liễn (丁璉, 940 – October 979) or Đinh Khuông Liễn (丁匡璉), was the eldest son of emperor Đinh Bộ Lĩnh, the founding emperor of Đinh dynasty. Liễn was granted the title ''Nam Việt vương'' (南越王, "king of Nam Việt") after his father ascended the throne. Liễn was sent to Song China to pay tribute in 973, and was granted the title Grand Preceptor of Inspection (檢校太師 ''Kiểm hiệu thái sư''), ''Jiedushi'' of ''Tĩnh Hải quân'' (靜海軍節度使 ''Tĩnh Hải quân tiết độ sứ'') and Governor of the Protectorate General to Pacify the South (安南都護 ''An Nam đô hộ'') by Song Taizu. Đinh Hạng Lang
Đinh Hạng Lang ( vi-hantu, 丁項郎, died 979), dharma name Đính-noa Tăng-noa (頂帑僧帑), was the crown prince of the Đinh dynasty. __TOC__ Biography Đinh Hạng Lang was second son of emperor Đinh Tiên Hoàng. He had a very meek personality, and was cherished by his father. In 978, the emperor designated Hạng Lang as the crown prince, despite oppositions from officials. This designation also made Đinh Tiên Hoàng's first son Đinh Khuông Liễn fret. In Spring 979, Khuông Liễn dispatched his subordinates to assassinate Hạng Lang. This assassination distressed Đinh Tiên Hoàng and his wives, who could not have done anything to stop it. So, to assuage his parents, prince Khuông Liễn employed masons to carve the Uṣṇīṣa Vijaya Dhāraṇī Sūtra on 100 columns, dedicated them to his deceased younger brother and other deceased people's souls; and prayed for their release from litigations and strifes. Đinh Bộ Lĩnh
Đinh Bộ Lĩnh (924–979) (r. 968–979), real name allegedly Đinh Hoàn ( 丁 桓), was the first Vietnamese emperor following the liberation of the country from the rule of the Chinese Southern Han Dynasty, as well as the founder of the short-lived Đinh Dynasty and a significant figure in the establishment of Vietnamese independence and political unity in the 10th century. He unified Vietnam by defeating twelve rebellious warlords and became the first emperor of Vietnam. Upon his ascension, he renamed the country ''Đại Cồ Việt''. Giao Chỉ
Jiaozhi (standard Chinese, pinyin: ''Jiāozhǐ''), or Giao Chỉ (Vietnamese), was a historical region ruled by various Chinese dynasties, corresponding to present-day northern Vietnam. The kingdom of Nanyue (204–111 BC) set up the Jiaozhi Commandery (; Vietnamese: Quận Giao Chỉ, Hán-Nôm: 郡交趾) an administrative division centered in the Red River Delta that existed through Vietnam's first and second periods of Chinese rule. During the Han dynasty, the commandery was part of a province of the same name (later renamed to Jiaozhou) that covered modern-day northern and central Vietnam as well as Guangdong and Guangxi in southern China.
