The Czechs (, ; singular Czech, masculine: ''Čech'' , singular feminine: ''Češka'' ), or the Czech people (), are a West Slavs, West Slavic ethnic group and a nation native to the Czech Republic in Central Europe, who share a common Bohemia, ancestry, Czech culture, culture, History of the Czech lands, history, and the Czech language. Olga Čechová
Olga Čechová (6 April 1925 – 24 November 2010) was a Czech Republic, Czech printmaker. A native of Brno, Čechová studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in that city from 1941 until 1944. From 1946 until 1951 she was a student at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where she was a pupil of Karel Svolinský and . She was active mainly as an illustrator, and her work appeared in many magazines and books, both for children and for adults. One of her prints is owned by the National Gallery of Art. Vladimír Čech (6 July 1951 – 22 March 2013) was a Czech actor, presenter and politician. Early life Čech was the son of anchorwoman Heda Čechová (1928–2020) and actor of the same name, Vladimír Čech (1916–1990). In 1977, Čech graduated from the Theatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts acting field before playing at Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava, the Silesian Theatre in Opava, Ostrava State Theatre, the Český Těšín Theatre, Oldřich Stibor State Theatre in Olomouc (present-day Moravian Theatre), and in the East Bohemia Theatre in Pardubice. Thomas Cech
Thomas Robert Cech (born 8 December 1947) is an American chemist who shared the 1989 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Sidney Altman for their discovery of the catalytic properties of RNA. Cech discovered that RNA could itself cut strands of RNA, suggesting that life might have started as RNA. He found that RNA can not only transmit instructions, but can act as a catalyst to speed up the necessary reactions. He has also studied telomeres, and his lab discovered an enzyme, TERT (telomerase reverse transcriptase), which is part of the process of restoring telomeres after they are shortened during cell division. As president of Howard Hughes Medical Institute (2000-2008) he promoted science education, and he teaches an undergraduate chemistry course at the University of Colorado.
