Þórir Þorbjarnarson
Þórir Guðmundur Þorbjarnarson (born 26 May 1998) is an Icelandic professional basketball player for KR of the Úrvalsdeild karla. He played college basketball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Nicknamed "Tóti Túrbó", he has won the Icelandic championship three times and the Icelandic Basketball Cup twice. Career Early career with KR (2014–2017) Þórir came up through the junior ranks of KR and played his first senior game, at the age of 16, on 7 December 2014, when he scored 31 points against Haukar-b in the Icelandic Basketball Cup. During the 2015–2016 season he was named the best young player of the first half of the season. He developed into a key player for KR during its 2017 championship run, averaging 10.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game, and was named the Úrvalsdeild Young Player of the Year after the 2016–17 season. KR Men's Basketball
The KR men's basketball team, commonly known as KR or KR Basket, is a professional basketball club based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the men's basketball department of Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur (English: Reykjavík Football Club) multi-sport club. It has won the Icelandic championship eighteen times, the most national championships in the men's top-tier league history. It won a record 6 national championships in a row from 2014 to 2019. Keflavík (pronounced , meaning ''Driftwood Bay'') is a town in the Reykjanes region in southwest Iceland. It is included in the municipality of Reykjanesbær whose population as of 2016 is 15,129. The Valur men's basketball team, commonly known as Valur, is a basketball team based in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is part of the Valur (club), Valur multi-sport club. History The club was founded as ''Gosi'' on 25 December 1951 and was one of the founding members of the Úrvalsdeild karla (basketball), Icelandic men's top division. On 22 December 1957 the club changed its name to ''Körfuknattleiksfélag Reykjavíkur'' (English: Reykjavík Basketball Club) and played under that name until 1970. The 2015–16 Úrvalsdeild karla was the 65th season of the Úrvalsdeild karla, the top tier basketball league in Iceland. The season started on October 15, 2015 and ended on April 29, 2016. KR defended its title by defeating Haukar 3–1 in the Finals.
