Ýolöten Gas Field
The Galkynysh Gas Field, formerly known as Iolotan gas field or South Yolotan – Osman field, is a large natural gas field near Ýolöten in Mary Province of Turkmenistan. It is the world's second-largest Natural gas field, gas field. History The discovery of the gas field was announced on 2 November 2006. Late Turkmen president Saparmurat Niyazov invited China, Chinese China National Petroleum Corporation, CNPC and Turkey, Turkish Çalik Enerji to participate in the exploration and development of the Ýolöten field. In 2008, the gas field was audited by Gaffney, Cline & Associates. According to Gaffney, Cline and Associates (GCA), Galkynysh is five times larger than the Dauletabad gas field and fourth- or fifth-List of natural gas fields#20 Largest non-associated gas fields, largest gas field in the world. Seýdi
Seýdi, formerly Neftezavodsk, is a city in eastern Turkmenistan. Etymology Neftezavodsk derives from two Russian words — neft (нефть; oil) and zavod (завод; factory). History The city was founded in 1973 with construction of the oil refinery; according to Russian census data, it was categorized as a "town of urban type". On 23 August 1990, it was upgraded to city, and renamed Seýdi in honor of Turkmen poet Seýitnazar Seýdi. On 25 November 2017, Seýdi was downgraded from a city with "district status" to a city "in a district", subordinate to Dänew District. Dauletabad Gas Field
The Dauletabad Gas Field (also Döwletabat, Dauletabad-Donmez, and until 1991 known as Sovietabad) is a large natural gas field located in Mary, Mary province, Turkmenistan. It is located in the vicinity of the Turkmenistan–Iran border, and is named after the Dowlatabad settlement across the border in Iran. The field is a part of the Amu-Darya oil-gas province. History The Dauletabad structural feature was detected during geological surveys in 1957–1960. The Dauletabad arch was confirmed by seismic surveys in 1968. The exploratory wells confirming existence of natural gas reserves were drilled in 1972–1974. Production started at the Dauletabad field in 1982. After the independence of Turkmenistan, production declined significantly, but increased again after 1998. The gas is exported via the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline system.
