Ülle Kukk (born 18 November 1937 in Tartu) is an Estonian botanist and conservationist. Education and career She was born in Tartu and graduated from the University of Tartu in 1960. 1960–1962 she continued to work in the university and also in the Institute of Experimental Biology of the Academy of Sciences of the Estonian SSR. From 1965 to 1975 she worked as a member of the research staff at the Tallinn Botanic Garden. Tartu
Tartu is the second largest city in Estonia after Tallinn. Tartu has a population of 97,759 (as of 2024). It is southeast of Tallinn and 245 kilometres (152 miles) northeast of Riga, Latvia. Erich Kukk (26 October 1928 – 17 November 2017) was an Estonian phycologist and conservationist. Kukk is referred to as the ''Grand Old Man of Estonian Phycology''. Early life Kukk was born in Misso Parish, and graduated from the University of Tartu in 1953. Research He has published research papers of cyanobacteria and green algae, contributed the Algae section of the "Estonian Red Book" established in 1998. and has written about water pollution and treatment options.
