Ørsta–Volda Airport
Ørsta–Volda Airport (; ) is a regional airport situated at Hovden (Hovdebygda), in Ørsta Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway, midway between the urban villages[ of Ørsta (village), Ørsta and Volda (village), Volda. The airport features a asphalt runway aligned 06/24. Services are provided by Widerøe using their de Havilland Canada Dash 8 as a public service obligation. Owned and operated by the state-owned Avinor, the airport handled 121,021 passengers in 2014. Hovden opened on 1 July 1971 as a municipal airport having cost 5.9 million Norwegian krone (NOK). Until 1993 Widerøe served it using the de Havilland Canada Twin Otter as a feeder service to Ålesund Airport, Vigra. The de Havilland Canada Dash 7 was used from 1985 to 1987. Avinor AS is a state-owned aksjeselskap, limited company that operates most of the civil airports in Norway. The Norwegian state, via the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications, controls 100 percent of the share capital. Eiksund Tunnel
The Eiksund tunnel () is an undersea tunnel in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway, which runs under the Vartdalsfjorden connecting the municipalities of Ørsta and Ulstein. The tunnel is long and reaches a depth of below sea level, and was the deepest undersea tunnel in the world until Norway's Rogaland county opened its deep Ryfast tunnel system in December 2019. Helgeland
Helgeland is the most southerly Districts of Norway, district in Northern Norway. Generally speaking, Helgeland refers to the part of Nordland county that is located south of the Arctic Circle. Håkon Olai Kyllingmark (19 January 1915 – 12 August 2003) was a Norwegian military officer and businessman. He served as a politician for the Conservative Party of Norway, Conservative Party and was elected to the Norwegian Parliament. Biography He was born at Kjelvik in Finnmark, Norway. His parents were Martin Kyllingmark (1879-1916) and Sigridur Sæmundsdottir (1892-1963). He received an education at the Army Command School in 1934 and the Flyvåpen Flying School in 1937. A short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft is a fixed-wing aircraft that can takeoff/land on short runways. Many STOL-designed aircraft can operate on airstrips with harsh conditions (such as high altitude or ice). Hareid Municipality
Hareid is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Møre og Romsdal Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre Districts of Norway, region. The administrative centre is the Hareid (village), village of Hareid. The other main population centers are Brandal and Hjørungavåg. The municipality is situated off the mainland coast of Sunnmøre, on an island named Hareidlandet, which it shared with Ulstein Municipality, the commercial capital of the area. Hovercraft
A hovercraft (: hovercraft), also known as an air-cushion vehicle or ACV, is an amphibious craft capable of travelling over land, water, mud, ice, and various other surfaces. Hovercraft use blowers to produce a large volume of air below the Hull (watercraft), hull, or air cushion, that is slightly above atmospheric pressure. The pressure difference between the higher-pressure air below the hull and lower pressure ambient air above it produces lift, which causes the hull to float above the running surface. For stability reasons, the air is typically blown through slots or holes around the outside of a disk- or oval-shaped platform, giving most hovercraft a characteristic rounded-rectangle shape. Gidsken Jakobsen
Gidsken Nilsine Jakobsen (1 August 1908 – 13 June 1990) was a Norway, Norwegian aviation pioneer. At the age of 20, Jakobsen became only the second Norwegian woman to be awarded a pilot's license (after Dagny Berger in 1927), having achieved the highest position of the ten students attending the course. She was one of the first Norwegians to establish commercial aviation in Norway, setting up her own airline in 1932 named Nord-Norges Aero operating Junkers F 13, and making her the first female head of a Scandinavian airline. Soon after in 1934 established a second airline called Bergens Aero and operating Loening C-2 Air Yacht. In 1939 she registered her first fixed-wing aircraft, aircraft in Oslo, and became the first person to fly from northern Norway to the capital during the winter months.
