Ølensjøen or Ølen is the administrative centre of Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The village is located at the southern end of the Ølsfjorden, along the European route E134 highway, just east of the village of Ølensvåg. The village has a population (2019) of 1,259 and a population density of . It is the largest urban area in the municipality. Ølensjøen is the regional center for commerce for the inner part of the Haugalandet area. It has a secondary school, sports club, and a public swimming pool. Norway's largest privately owned slaughterhouse, Fatland slakteri, is located in Ølensjøen. Vindafjord is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Rogaland Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Haugaland. Ølen
Ølen is a List of former municipalities of Norway, former municipality in the Vestlandet region of Norway. The municipality existed from 1916 until 2006, and originally it was a part of Hordaland county, but in 2002 it was transferred to Rogaland county prior to its dissolution in 2006. The municipality was located on the south side of the Bjoafjorden and east of the Ålfjorden. The administrative center of Ølen was the village of Ølensjøen. European route E134 () is a International E-road network, European highway that crosses Norway starting at Haugesund Airport, Karmøy near the city of Haugesund on the west coast, heading over Haukeli, passing the city of Drammen, and ending in Vassum on the east side of the Oslofjord Tunnel. With the highest point at above sea level, the road is sensitive to snow conditions and foul weather during the winter season, during which the mountainous sections, especially near Haukelifjell skiing center, may be closed in short periods. Ølen Church
Ølen Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vindafjord Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Ølensjøen. It is one of the two churches for the Ølen og Bjoa parish which is part of the Haugaland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1874 using designs by the architect T. Solheim. The church seats about 550 people. History The first known church at Ølen was a stave church that was first mentioned in historical records in 1326, but it was not new that year. The original Ølen Church was built on a steep, prominent moraine ridge overlooking the village and fjord about southeast of the present church site.
