Øivind Bergh
Øivind Bergh (3 December 190925 January 1987) was a Norwegian violinist and orchestral leader. Biography Øivind Ingvard Bergh was born in Hamar, Norway. His parents were Even Johannesen Bergh (1873–1958) and Karen Hanssen (1881–1940). He was the brother of musician Sverre Arvid Bergh (1915–1980) and the brother-in-law of actress Eva Bergh (1926–2013). He was married in 1937 to Rigmor Hansen (1913–1994). Bergh was educated in Dresden, Germany. In 1938 he was a violinist with the Oslo String Quartet and the following year he started his own orchestra. He was instrumental in establishing the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and was the conductor of the orchestra from its inception in 1946 until 1976. The ''Great Norwegian Encyclopedia'' (, abbreviated ''SNL'') is a Norwegian-language online encyclopedia. It has several subdivisions, including the Norsk biografisk leksikon. The online encyclopedia is among the most-read Norwegian published sites, with up to 3.5 million unique visitors per month. Paper editions (1978–2007) The ''SNL'' was created in 1978, when the two publishing houses Aschehoug and Gyldendal merged their encyclopedias and created the company Kunnskapsforlaget. Eva Bergh (25 February 1926 – 19 February 2013) was a Norwegian actress. Eva Bergh was born Eva Johansen at Kolbotn in Oppegård, Norway. She was married to the composer Sverre Arvid Bergh (1915–1980) and was the sister-in-law of his brother violinist and orchestral leader Øivind Bergh (1909–1987) She made her debut at Det Nye Teater in Oslo during 1949. She held a prominent position at Den Nationale Scene in Bergen for over 40 years. She appeared in a number of roles in dramas and several major roles in plays by Ludvig Holberg and William Shakespeare. She also had a number of roles in Norwegian and foreign films. Oslo String Quartet
Oslo String Quartet was formed in 1991 by Geir Inge Lotsberg and (violins), Are Sandbakken (viola), and Øystein Sonstad (cello). It was among the 1994 prize winners of the ''London International String Competition'', which is among the most prestigious string quartet competitions internationally. In 2007 Skalstad left the quartet in order to pursue a conducting career. Liv Hilde Klokk replaced him at the start of 2008. The quartet regularly at music festivals in Scandinavia and elsewhere, including Wigmore Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York. Norwegian Radio Orchestra
The Norwegian Radio Orchestra (Norwegian, ''Kringkastingsorkestret'', abbreviated as KORK) is a radio orchestra affiliated with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (''Norsk rikskringkasting AS'', or NRK). Its principal base is the ''Store Studio'' at the NRK's headquarters in Oslo. The orchestra's current chief administrator is Rolf Lennart Stensø. As of 2018, KORK consists of fifty-nine musicians. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957.
