Övralid Prize
Övralid is a manor house located north of Motala in Östergötland County, Sweden. History Övralid was erected between 1923 and 1925 by poet, writer, and Nobel Prize laureate Verner von Heidenstam (1859–1940). He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1916. Övralid was built on the east hillside of lake Vättern Vättern ( , ) is the second-largest lake in Sweden, after Vänern, and the sixth-largest lake in Europe. Vättern
Vättern ( , ) is the second-largest lake in Sweden, after Vänern, and the sixth-largest lake in Europe. It is a long, finger-shaped body of fresh water in south central Sweden, to the southeast of Vänern, pointing at the tip of Scandinavia. Vättern is deep, containing roughly half as much water as Vänern even though it covers about a third as much area; its deepest point is below sea level. Vättern drains into Motala ström through Bråviken into the Baltic Sea, but since 1832 it has also had a downstream connection through the Göta Canal to Vänern and the Kattegat tributary of the Atlantic Ocean. Carl Gustaf Verner von Heidenstam (6 July 1859 – 20 May 1940) was a Swedish poet, novelist and laureate of the 1916 Nobel Prize in Literature. He was a member of the Swedish Academy from 1912. His poems and prose work are filled with a great joy of life, sometimes imbued with a love of Swedish history and scenery, particularly its physical aspects. Early life Verner von Heidenstam was born in Olshammar, Örebro County, on 6 July 1859 to a noble family. Von Heidenstam was the son of Gustaf von Heidenstam, an engineer, and ''Magdalena'' Charlotta von Heidenstam (née Rütterskiöld). He was educated at ''Beskowska skolan'' in Stockholm.
