Óscar Moncada
Óscar Moncada Reyes (died November 9, 2014) was a Nicaraguan politician. Moncada served as a member of the National Assembly for three consecutive terms from 1997 to 2011, including a tenure as the President of the National Assembly of Nicaragua from 1999 until 2001. He was the Vice President of the Constitutionalist Liberal Party (PLC) at the time of his death in 2014. Óscar Moncada was the son, from a second marriage, of former President of Nicaragua José MarÃa Moncada, who held office from 1929 to 1933. Early life Moncada held numerous public offices and appointments during the administrations of former Presidents Violeta Barrios de Chamorro (1990–1997) and Arnoldo Alemán (1997–2002). He served as the director of human resources within the Ministry of Labor and sub-director of the Instituto de Seguro Social. He was also the secretary general of the Empresa Aguadora of Managua. Masatepe
Masatepe () is one of the nine municipalities of the Department of Masaya in Nicaragua. It is located on the plateau of the villages 50 kilometers from Managua along the road to Masaya. It belongs to the tourist corridor of " Los Pueblos Blancos" on top of the coffee-producing Volcanic Plateau. The origin of the word "Masatepe" comes from the Nawat language and is named after the Nahua chiefdom of Masatepek, which was located in the present-day department of Masaya. Masatepek is a combination of the Nawat words ''Masat'' (deer), and ''-tepek'' (hill). The literal translation of Masatepek is "deer hill". Arnoldo Alemán
José Arnoldo Alemán Lacayo (born 23 January 1946) is a Nicaraguan politician who served as the 56th president of Nicaragua from 10 January 1997 to 10 January 2002. In 2003, he was convicted of corruption and sentenced to a 20-year prison term; the conviction was overturned by the Supreme Court of Nicaragua in 2009. Early life Alemán was born in Managua and received his early education at the La Salle institute in Managua. His father was a prominent lawyer who was an associate of the 1970s Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza Debayle and served as Somoza's minister of education for a period, and the family owned a large coffee plantation south of Managua. Violeta Barrios De Chamorro
Violeta Barrios Torres de Chamorro (; 18 October 1929 – 14 June 2025) was a Nicaraguan politician who served as the 55th president of Nicaragua from 1990 to 1997. She was the country's first female president. Previously, she was a member of the Junta of National Reconstruction (, JGRN) from 1979 to 1980. Her husband, Pedro JoaquÃn Chamorro Cardenal, was a journalist with his family's newspaper, '' La Prensa'', which he later inherited. As a result of his anti-government stance, he was often jailed or exiled, forcing Chamorro to spend a decade following him abroad or visiting him in jail.
