Óscar Felipe Ventura
Óscar Enrique Felipe Ventura (18 March 1943 – 22 November 2023) was a Peruvian politician. He was a Member of Parliament from 1985 to 1990. As of 2013 he was the spokesman of the Regional Committee "César Vallejo" of the Communist Party of Peru (Red Fatherland) (PCdelP-Patria Roja) in La Libertad, organizing secretary of the Regional Front for Defense and Development of La Libertad (FREDELL), as well as a leader the Social Affirmation Movement (MAS) in La Libertad. Felipe Ventura was the son of Nicanor Felipe Urcia and Rosa Ventura Landivar de Felipe. He was a teacher by profession. He completed his primary education at the Escuela Carlos Gutiérrez de Noriega and his secondary school was Colegio José Andrés Rázuri. He completed his university studies at Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, obtaining a degree as a secondary school teacher with a specialization in Philosophy and Social Sciences. Communism as a political philosophy in Peru dates back to the 1920s, a period where new ideological currents entered the country. Throughout the movement's history, a number of parties, movements and organisations in the country have referred to themselves by the name of " communist party". The oldest to do so is the Peruvian Communist Party (''Partido Comunista Peruano'', PCP), originally founded in 1928 as the ''Peruvian Socialist Party'' (PSP) by Marxist philosopher and journalist José Carlos Mariátegui. The 1960s brought about the emergence of splinter groups up until the 21st century. One of these groups, commonly known as the Shining Path (PCP-SL), waged an insurgency against the Peruvian State that resulted in a 20-year period of violence that took place from 1980 to 2000, while its splinter groups have continued to operate from 2001 onwards. United Left (in Spanish: ''Izquierda Unida'') was an alliance of leftist political parties in Peru founded in 1980 by Popular Democratic Unity (UDP), Revolutionary Left Union (UNIR), Peruvian Communist Party (PCP), Revolutionary Socialist Party (PSR), Revolutionary Communist Party (PCR) and FOCEP.
