Ólafía Einarsdóttir
Ólafía Einarsdóttir (28 July 1924 – 19 December 2017) was an Icelandic archaeologist and historian, specialising in Icelandic chronology. She was the first Icelander to complete a degree in archaeology. After completing her PhD from Lund University in 1964, she taught at the University of Copenhagen and published many works about Sagas of Icelanders, Icelandic sagas and Vikings, Viking history. Early life Ólafía was born in Hafnarfjörður, Hafnafjördur, a suburb of Reykjavík, on 28 July 1924. Her parents were Einar Þorkelsson, Secretary General of the Althing, and Ólafía Guðmundsdóttir. One of six children, her mother died in childbirth when Ólafía was five; soon after her father became blind. She was then adopted by some friends of her mother's and raised by them. Ólafía Jóhannsdóttir (22 October 1863 – 21 June 1924) was an Icelandic teacher and Temperance movement, temperance worker. She traveled and lectured in different countries on behalf of the International Organisation of Good Templars (IOGT) and the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), being proficient in English, Danish, Norwegian and German, in addition to her native Icelandic. She was an author, magazine editor, and textbook translator. It was Olafia's ambition to bring the women of Iceland to a position of equality with men. Early life and education Ólafía Jóhannsdóttir was born at Mosfellsbær, near Reykjavík, Iceland, on 22 October 1863. Ólafía's relatives reared her after her parents' death. Her uncle was speaker of the Lower House of the National Council, and her aunt, Þorbjörg Sveinsdóttir, was prominent in public movements of every kind. Ólafía Hrönn Jónsdóttir (born 7 December 1962) is an Icelandic actress. She is known for her role as Freyja in ''Trapped (Icelandic TV series), Trapped''. Early life Ólafía was born in Reykjavík, Iceland in 1962. She grew up in Reykjavík, and in Hornafjörður where her father managed a bank. She was a Scouting, scout when she was young and would play sketches for them whenever she got a chance.
