O'Rourke () is an Irish Gaelic clan based most prominently in what is today County Leitrim. The family were the historic rulers of Breifne and later West Breifne until the 17th century. Andrew O'Rourke
Andrew Patrick O'Rourke (October 26, 1933 – January 3, 2013) was an American judge and politician from New York State. A Republican, he served as the County Executive of Westchester County, New York from 1982 to 1997. He was the Republican candidate for Governor of New York in 1986. During the course of the campaign, he carried a prop—a cardboard cutout of then-incumbent Democratic Gov. Mario Cuomo, which he used to humorous effect. Nevertheless, Cuomo was re-elected. After stepping down as county executive, O'Rourke was appointed as a judge of the New York Court of Claims. Thereafter he was elected as a justice of the New York State Supreme Court and served concurrently as both a justice of the Court of Claims and a justice of the Supreme Court. Edward O'Rourke, full name Eduard Alexander Ladislaus Graf O'Rourke (; ; 26 October 1876 – 27 June 1943) was a Russian-born Roman Catholic priest, bishop of Riga and the first head of the bishopric of the Free City of Danzig (GdaÅ„sk). Early life O'Rourke was born on 26 October 1876 in Basin, Minsk Governorate, Russian Empire (modern-day Belarus) into an aristocratic family of Irish ancestry, which included many high officers in the Russian military. The most prominent was Joseph Cornelius O'Rourke. They held imperial titles of the Russian Empire and of the German Holy Roman Empire but also petitioned to retain the Irish count title as well, which was granted by the Tsar in 1848. Derval O'Rourke (born 28 May 1981) is an Irish former sprint hurdles athlete. She competed internationally in the 60 and 100 metres hurdles, and is the Irish national record holder in the former. Dennis O'Rourke (14 August 1945 – 15 June 2013) was an Australian cinematographer and documentary filmmaker. Early life and education Dennis O'Rourke was born on 14 August 1945 in Brisbane. For most of his childhood, Dennis O'Rourke lived in a small country town, where his parents ran a failing business, until he was sent to a Catholic boarding school for his secondary education. In the late 1960s, after two years of fruitless university studies, he went travelling in outback Australia, the Pacific Islands and South East Asia. During this period he worked as a farm hand, salesman, cowboy, a roughneck on oil rigs, and as a maritime seaman. He also taught himself photography and dreamt of becoming a photojournalist. Danny O'Rourke (born May 31, 1983) is a former American soccer player. Career High School and College O'Rourke played high school soccer at Worthington Kilbourne High School in Worthington, Ohio. He was captain during the 2000 season, during which they won the state championship.
