Étoiles De Pau
The Étoiles de Pau or Stars of Pau is an annual three-day event held in Pau, in the South of France, near the Pyrénées mountains. It is one of only seven annual Concours Complet International (CCI) five-star events in the world (the highest level of competition) as classified by the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) and the only one held in France. It takes place every year in October in the Domaine de Sers in Pau. The six others CCI Five Stars are the Burghley Horse Trials and Badminton Horse Trials, held in Great Britain, the Kentucky Three-Day Event and the Maryland 5 Star held in the United States, the Australian International Three Day Event, held in Australia, and the Luhmühlen Horse Trials, held in Germany. Eventing
Eventing (also known as three-day eventing or horse trials) is an equestrian event where the same horse and rider combination compete against other competitors across the three disciplines of dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. This event has its roots in a comprehensive cavalry test that required mastery of several types of riding. The competition may be run as a one-day event (ODE), where all three events are completed in one day (dressage, followed by show jumping and then the cross-country phase) or a three-day event (3DE), which is more commonly now run over four days, with dressage on the first two days, followed by cross-country the next day and then show jumping in reverse order on the final day. Eventing was previously known as Combined Training, and the name persists in many smaller organizations. Andrew Nicholson (equestrian)
Andrew Clifton Nicholson (born 1 August 1961 in Te Awamutu) is a New Zealand horseman who has competed at six Olympic Games (though selected for seven). Biography Born and raised in the Waikato Nicholson moved to England in the 1980s to further his equestrian career. He currently works there as a horse trainer. Nicholson's greatest success at international level has been in Three-Day Event teams. He won a gold medal at the 1990 World Equestrian Games in Stockholm, a silver at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and a bronze at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, but he became infamous for his ride on Spinning Rhombus at Barcelona. Zara Anne Elizabeth Tindall (; born 15 May 1981) is a British equestrianism, equestrian, Olympic Games, Olympian, socialite and member of the British royal family. Rosalind Canter
Rosalind Canter (born 13 January 1986) is a British equestrian who competes in eventing. She is the 2018 World Champion. On Monday, 8 May 2023 and Sunday, 11 May 2025 she won the Badminton Horse Trials riding Lordships Graffalo both times. She won a gold medal in Team eventing at 2024 Paris Olympics. Early life Canter grew up on the family farm in Hallington, Lincolnshire. She attended Kidgate Junior School in Louth, and was also a competitive swimmer in the mid-1990s, with her sister Megan. She also competed in cross country running, when at the grammar school in Louth, alongside her sister Harriet. Jonelle Price (née Richards; born 14 October 1980) is a New Zealand equestrian, competing in eventing. She is married to Tim Price, also a New Zealand eventing rider. Laura Collett
Laura Collett (born 31 August 1989) is a British equestrian who competes in eventing. Early life Collett won the supreme pony title at Horse of the Year Show in 2003 when she was 13. She won nine medals during her youth career, including three individual golds, in the juniors in 2006 on Fernhill Sox, in the juniors in 2007 on Rayef, and the young riders in 2009 again on Rayef. Career Collett has been selected for three European Eventing Championships as an individual. She was eliminated on the cross-country on her senior championship debut at Luhmühlen in 2011, but finished 13th at the 2015 championships at Blair Castle on Grand Manoeuvre. Tom McEwen (equestrian)
Thomas Bruce McEwen (born 10 May 1991) is a British equestrian who competes in eventing. Career McEwen was on the European young rider eventing team in 2010 and 2011. He won team gold in 2010 riding Major Sweep and then won another team gold in 2011 aboard Private Rudolph. He was a member of the gold medal-winning pony European eventing team in 2007 with his ride Dick Taytoe. Maxime Livio (born 27 July 1987) is a French eventing rider. He competed at two World Equestrian Games (in 2014 and 2018). At the 2014 World Equestrian Games held in Normandy, France, Livio initially ranked 4th in both individual and team events, but was later disqualified after his horse Qalao des Mers tested positive for hydroxyethylpromazine sulfoxide. Astier Nicolas (born 19 January 1989) is a French equestrian. He represented his country at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where he won the gold medal in the team eventing and the silver in the individual eventing. Ingrid Klimke
Ingrid Klimke (born 1 April 1968 in Münster, West Germany) is a German eventing rider. She appeared at five Olympics from 2000 to 2016. With her horse Abraxxas, she won two gold medals in team eventing at the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2016 Summer Olympics, she won a team silver with Hale-Bob. She is the daughter of equestrian Reiner Klimke. Like her father, she rides in both eventing and dressage at international events, for example, she was placed seventh at the 2002 Dressage World Cup Final with Nector van het Carelshof. In 2022, she made her debut on the German dressage team at the World Championships, where she was awarded a team bronze medal.
