Piano
A piano is a keyboard instrument that produces sound when its keys are depressed, activating an Action (music), action mechanism where hammers strike String (music), strings. Modern pianos have a row of 88 black and white keys, tuned to a chromatic scale in equal temperament. A musician who specializes in piano is called a pianist. Olivier Cazal
Olivier Cazal (born 1962 in Toulouse) is a French pianist. He was awarded 2nd prizes at the 1988 Maria Canals Competition, the 1991 Concorso Busoni (ex-aequo with Igor Kamenz), the 1991 Long-Thibaud Competition, and the 1992 Sydney International Piano Competition. He won 1st prize at the 1993 Premio de Jaén. Cazal is internationally active as a concert pianist, and has recorded Francis Poulenc's complete piano works for Naxos Records. Christian Chamorel (born 1979, in Lausanne) is a Swiss pianist. Aimo Pagin
Aimo Pagin is a French pianist, born in 1983. He trained under Rena Shereshevskaya ( Strasbourg Conservatory), Dominique Merlet (Conservatoire de Paris) and Leon Fleisher (Peabody Institute). Pagin was prized at the 2005 Enescu Competition, and subsequently won the XI Premio Pianistico di Napoli. He has also been prized at the 2007 Cidade de Ferrol (2nd to Evgeny Starodubtsev) and Campillos (3rd prize) international competitions, both in Spain. Pagin has performed internationally as a soloist and a chamber musician. In addition, he has served regularly as an accompanist for his mother, Silvia Marcovici. Pagin played in Bucharest with the Philharmonic instead of Radu Lupu in March 2009 and was invited to play at the Tonhalle Zürich by David Zinman. Serhiy Salov (born 30 May 1979) is a Canadian pianist of Ukrainian origin. Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, Salov won First Prize in the piano category of the 2004 Montreal International Musical Competition and Second Prize in the 2010 Gina Bachauer International Artists Competition, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Gulnora Alimova (born July 25, 1971) is an Uzbek pianist. Early life and career Alimova was born on July 25, 1971, in Tashkent, she studied under A. Neuwirth, and subsequently at the Aschrafi State Conservatory in Tashkent under Prof. O. Yussupova. She took her postgraduate studies at the Moscow Conservatory under Prof. Lev Naumov, graduating in 1997.
