Élisabeth Filhol
Élisabeth Filhol (born 1 May 1965 in Mende, Lozère) is a French writer. Biography Filhol works in the world of management and in particular in consulting works councils. She lives in the region of Angers. Her first novel ''La Centrale'' focuses on the working conditions of the temporary workers of the nuclear industry, and particularly the nuclear plants of Chinon and le Blayais. For this later novel, she won the 2010 Prix France Culture/Télérama. Mende, Lozère
Mende (, ) is a communes of France, commune and the prefectures in France, prefecture of the departments of France, department of Lozère, in the regions of France, region of Occitania (administrative region), Occitania, Southern France. Its demonym, inhabitants are called the ''Mendois''. The city, including the first traces of dwellings date back to 200 BC, was originally named ''Mimata'', probably in reference to the mountains that surround it. Mende is located between Clermont-Ferrand and Montpellier, but also on the axis of Lyon–Saint-Étienne–Albi–Toulouse. The other important nearby towns are Aurillac and Saint-Flour, Cantal, Saint-Flour (Cantal), Le Puy-en-Velay (Haute-Loire), Rodez, Millau (Aveyron) and Alès and Nîmes (Gard). Chinon Nuclear Power Plant
The Chinon Nuclear Power Plant () is near the town of Avoine in the Indre et Loire ''département'', on the river Loire (approximately 10 km from the town of Chinon) in central France. The power station has seven reactors, of which three have been closed. Operation It employs approximately 1,350 full-time workers. The operator is Électricité de France (EDF). Performance The site houses three of the first generation of French plants, of UNGG-type (similar to the Magnox design), which have now closed. These reactors were named EDF1, EDF2, EDF3 and were later renamed into Chinon-A1, Chinon-A2, Chinon-A3. Blayais Nuclear Power Plant
The Blayais Nuclear Power Plant is a nuclear plant on the banks of the Gironde estuary near Blaye, France operated by Électricité de France. Description The power plant has 4 pressurized water reactors – producing 951 MW gross and 910 MW net each. They were commissioned from 1981 to 1983. The plant has 1200 EDF employees and 350 permanent workers. The four reactors produce about 25 TWh per year which is about 5% of the total electricity consumption in France (2015: 476 TWh). Since its commissioning, the Blayais nuclear power plant has produced more than 800 TWh.
