The Allondon () is a river in France (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region) and Switzerland (canton of Geneva). It is long, of which 6.1 km in Switzerland and 2.5 km on the French–Swiss border. Its source is located at elevation in the commune of Échenevex in the Ain department in eastern France. It flows into the Rhône at the village of Russin in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland. Its catchment area is , of which 137 km2 in France. It is home to the only recently known population of the rare insect ''Lachesilla rossica''. Gex, Ain
Gex (; ; ) is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France and a subprefecture of the department. It lies from the Swiss border and from Geneva. It is a subprefecture of Ain. History The town gave its name to the '' Pays de Gex'', at various times under the jurisdiction of France, Switzerland and the Duchy of Savoy. The future site of Gex was inhabited around 1800 BC. Around 220 BC, a group of Gallic warriors known as the Gaesatae resided in the area around Gex. Afterwards, the town was part of Roman Gaul. In 1252, Léonette of Geneva, Lady of Gex, descendant of the count of Geneva, Amadeus I, married Simon of Joinville, son of Simon of Joinville and Beatrix of Auxonne, Lady of Marnay. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator.
