ÉCU The European Independent Film Festival
''The European Independent Film Festival'' is an annual international film festival dedicated to independent cinema. Held in Paris, France, it was created in 2006 by Scott Hillier. Quality, innovation, and creativity are judged in 14 categories, 7 of which are open to non-European filmmakers (from the Americas, Australia, Africa, and Asia), and compete for 25 awards. Jury members come from all around the globe and have a variety of backgrounds. The founder and president of ÉCU, Scott Hillier, is a Paris-based Australian filmmaker. He gained international recognition from his cinematography, editing, writing producing and directing portfolio and served as Director of Photography on the documentary Twin Towers (film), Twin Towers which won an 75th Academy Awards, Academy Award in 2003. ''I Am Eleven'' is a 2011 Australian documentary film by Genevieve Bailey and Henrik Nordstrom, who travelled through 15 countries over a period of six years to explore the lives of 11-year-olds in different environments. Rebecca Calder is an English actress. Her films include ''Altar'' (2014), ''Love Me Do'' (2015), for which she won Best Actress at the European Independent Film Festival, and ''The Dark Mile'' (2017). Claude Demers (born March 10, 1962) is a Canadian filmmaker from Montreal, Quebec. He is most noted for his series of documentary films that were indirectly inspired by, or directly about, his experiences as an adoptee.
