Åstol () is a locality situated south of Tjörn Municipality (close to Marstrand), Västra Götaland County, Sweden with 210 inhabitants in 2010. Åstol is an island and a locality in Tjörn Municipality in Rönnäng Parish situated in the Province of Bohuslän. In 2015, Åstol lost its status as an urban area due to its population decreasing to under 200 residents. Instead, the island came to constitute a small residential area. The island is located just south of Tjörn (near Marstrand) and has approximately 200 year-round residents. The island can be reached via the Hakefjord ferry which departs from Rönnäng on Tjörn and also serves Tjörnekalv, as well as Åstol's neighboring island, Dyrön. Tjörn Municipality
Tjörn Municipality () is a municipality that covers the island of Tjörn in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Skärhamn. Tjörn is the sixth largest Swedish island. It is located in the province of Bohuslän. The former municipal entities on the island and adjacent islets were united to form Tjörn Municipality in 1952. For centuries the local economy was dominated by fishing and boat building. The largest employers are still the shipping company TransAtlantic (formerly known as B&N) and the shipyards Djupviks varv and Rönnängs varv. Marstrand
Marstrand () is a seaside locality situated in Kungälv Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 1,320 inhabitants in 2010. The town got its name from its location on the island of Marstrand. Despite its small population, for historical reasons Marstrand is often referred to as a ''city''. The city had free port status, which was declared by King Gustav III, from 1775 to 1794. Religious liberty established by the same sovereign allowed an early Swedish congregation of Jews to be established there in 1775 and one of Scandinavia's first synagogues was set up in Fort Fredriksborg in 1780, making the village a notable site to the history of the Jews in Sweden.
