Ã…skollen is a part of the borough of Tangen-Ã…skollen in the city of Drammen, Norway. Tangen-Ã…skollen is one of the eight districts in Drammen and had 6,123 inhabitants (2002). Tangen-Ã…skollen is located south-east of the city centre. Before 1964 Ã…skollen was a part of Skoger municipality. Tangen Church (''Tangen Kirke'') was inaugurated on 25 January 1854. The design was by architect Heinrich Ernst Schirmer. The altarpiece titled "Christ in Gethsemane" (''Jesus i Getsemane''), was made by Johan Fredrik Eckersberg in 1852. Drammen () is a city and municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. The port and river city of Drammen is centrally located in the south-eastern and most populated part of Norway. Drammen municipality also includes smaller towns and villages such as Konnerud, Svelvik, Mjøndalen and Skoger. Skoger is a village in Drammen Municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. The village is located just north of the Vestfold county border, about south of the centre of the town of Drammen. The villages of Klever and Eikeberg are located about to the south and the village of Sande i Vestfold is located about to the south. Heinrich Ernst Schirmer
Heinrich Ernst Schirmer (27 August 1814 – 6 December 1887) was a German-born architect most noted for his work in Norway. Schirmer worked in Norway from 1838 to 1883 and left his mark on a number of public buildings. He contributed significantly to the introduction of the so-called Swiss architectural style in Norway, based partly on Italian villa style, Gothic Revival, and neoclassicism. Biography Schirmer was born in Leipzig, Germany. He was the son of Johan Gottlieb Schirmer and Johanne Sophie Kühne. He was the father of architect Adolf Schirmer. He received his architectural education at art academies in Dresden from 1831 to 1834, and in Munich from 1834 to 1837. Åsmund (Aasmund) Esval (16 February 1889 – 17 October 1971, Oslo) was a Norwegian painter. Biography Aasmund Esval was born at Nes in Romerike, Norway. From 1909 to 1919, Esval was educated at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry. Esval trained at the Académie de l'Art Moderne in Paris under Othon Friesz and Raoul Dufy from 1919 to 1921. Esval studied at the Académie Scandinave Maison Watteau in Paris under Per Krogh from 1926 to 1927, and at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts under Georg Jacobsen 1935–1937. In the 1950s and 1960s, Esval taught at Friundervisningen in Oslo. Also during his career, Esval also taught drawing at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry. Hadeland Glassverk
Hadeland Glassverk is situated in Jevnaker, Akershus 40 km north of Oslo, at the southern tip of lake Randsfjorden. History The glass works was founded in 1762 on land belonging to the Mo estate. Production started in 1765. At the time Norway did not have the necessary skilled craftsmen, and these were recruited from abroad, principally from Germany. Initially production consisted mainly of bottles, chemists’ jars, medicine bottles and items of household glass. In 1852 Ole Christian Berg took charge of the glass works and the company underwent dramatic development. Production was redefined to consist of smaller crystal items and included everything from wine glasses to bowls, dishes and vases.
