Årsta Church () is a church in Årsta, Uppsala, Sweden that was built in 1974, and was designed by Samuel Fränne. The church was originally owned by the Uppsala Missionary Congregation, but is now a district church in Vaksala parish. It has an ecumenical cooperation with the Swedish Salvation Army. Årsta is a district in Uppsala, Sweden, located in the east of the city, between Gränbystaden and Fyrislund, with Årstaparken as the approximate center. The area contains both apartment blocks, row homes and single family homes. The central square, Årsta Centrum, contains among other things a supermarket, and a health centre. The facilitys has been upgraded in recent years, but at the same time shops and community services have been reduced. The is currently slated to be redeveloped, with newly built housing and commercial spaces, as part of wider development of the nearby area known as Östra Sala Backe. Before 1970, the district was near-urban countryside with sparser settlements, horticulture and cornfields. Vaksala Church () is a medieval Lutheran church in the Archdiocese of Uppsala in Uppsala, Sweden. The church is considered one of the most unusual in the province of Uppland. History The oldest parts of Vaksala Church, the tower and the western end of the church, were erected during the 12th century. Today the church is located in the outskirts of Uppsala city, but at the time of its construction – before the establishment of the Diocese of Uppsala - the church was the centre of one of the hundreds of Uppland, close to the location of a thing and by a locally important road. Archdiocese Of Uppsala
The Archdiocese of Uppsala () is one of the thirteen dioceses of the Church of Sweden and the only one having the status of an archdiocese. Lutheran archdiocese Uppsala is the seat of the Lutheran Archbishop of Uppsala. The diocese, which has its centre in the city of Uppsala, covers Uppsala County, Gävleborg County and parts of Stockholm County and Västmanland County. The archdiocese originally also included those parts of Norrland, which were included in the new Diocese of Härnösand when it was founded in 1647 and the City of Stockholm, which was made a diocese of its own in 1942. Samuel Fränne
Samuel is a figure who, in the narratives of the Hebrew Bible, plays a key role in the transition from the biblical judges to the United Kingdom of Israel under Saul, and again in the monarchy's transition from Saul to David. He is venerated as a prophet in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In addition to his role in the Bible, Samuel is mentioned in Jewish rabbinical literature, in the Christian New Testament, and in the second chapter of the Quran (although the text does not mention him by name).
