	Århus Games Århus Games is an athletics competition held in Århus, Denmark. A small number of athletes are invited, both national and international names (about 110 athletes in 20 disciplines). The first time the games were held, in 1971, 6 Danish records were set. In 1972, the Belgian middle-distance runner Emiel Puttemans set his world record in the 3000 metres. Since the competition started in 19, 28 Olympic champions have participated, either ruling, previous or upcoming. 	Emiel Puttemans Emiel Adrien "Miel" Puttemans (born 8 October 1947) is a Belgian former middle- and long-distance runner who set world records for 3000 metres (7 minutes 37.6 seconds) in 1972, for 2 miles (8 minutes 17.8 seconds) in 1971, for 5000 metres (13 minutes 13 seconds) in 1972, and 3 miles in 1972 (12:47.8). It is debated whether the 3000 m should be classified as a middle-distance or long-distance event.
