Ã…land Football Association
The Ã…land Football Association () is the governing body of Association football, football in Ã…land. Ã…FF is not a member of UEFA or FIFA, but is a member of the Football Association of Finland and has the status of a Finnish District Football Associations, District Football Association. Ã…FF also runs the Ã…land official football team and Ã…land women's football team. Background Ã…land Football Association was founded in 1943 and was originally called the Ã…lands Bolldistrikt. The Association currently has 12 member associations of which 11 are football clubs and one is the local referee association. They together have about 60 teams covering various ages groups. The number of registered players is currently approaching the 1000 mark. Mariehamn
Mariehamn ( , ; ; ) is the capital of Åland, an autonomous territory under Finnish sovereignty. Mariehamn is the seat of the Government and Parliament of Åland, and 40% of the population of Åland live in the city. It is mostly surrounded by Jomala, the second-largest municipality in Åland in terms of population; to the east, it is bordered by Lemland. Like the rest of Åland, Mariehamn is unilingually Swedish-speaking and around of the inhabitants speak it as their native language. The theme of the coat of arms of Mariehamn refers to the city's main livelihood, maritime transport, and the city's parks, which are typically lined with linden trees. Lemlands Idrottsförening or Lemlands IF is a Finnish sports club situated in Lemland in Åland. The club is best known for its football section. Lemlands IF is competing in the Swedish Football Division 7. Wilhelm Ingves, a striker of the Finnish Premier Division outfit IFK Mariehamn, is a former youth player of Lemlands IF. Jomala is a municipality of Åland, an autonomous territory of Finland. In terms of population, it is the next largest after Mariehamn, the capital of Åland.
