Ã…ge Hovengen
Ã…ge Hovengen (21 December 1927 – 19 October 2018) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Brandbu. He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Oppland in 1977, and was re-elected on two occasions. He had previously served as a deputy representative during the term 1973–1977. From 1973 to 1976 he met as a regular representative, filling the seat of Thorstein Treholt who was appointed to the second cabinet Bratteli. On the local level he was a member of Vestre Slidre municipal council from 1963 to 1977. Outside politics he worked as a car mechanic. He was also active in the Norwegian Farmers and Smallholders Union. Fritt Ord (organization)
Fritt Ord is a Norwegian private foundation, whose aim is to support freedom of expression and a free press. It was established on 7 June 1974 by Narvesen Kioskkompani's leaders Jens Henrik Nordlie and Finn Skedsmo as well as the lawyer Jens Christian Hauge. Fritt Ord has significant funds and is playing a part in supporting various projects in Norway, such as investing in the newspaper '' Morgenbladet'', supporting an encyclopedia (''Store Norske Leksikon'') and holding a 10.1% ownership in the media group A-Pressen. In addition it awards scholarships to students within media and journalism, awards the Fritt Ord Prize, and supports writing competitions. It has also provided funding for controversial projects, e.g. an upcoming book written by the blogger Fjordman, who calls for the deportation of all Muslims from Europe. Oppland Politicians
Oppland is a former county in Norway which existed from 1781 until its dissolution on 1 January 2020. The old Oppland county bordered the counties of Trøndelag, Møre og Romsdal, Sogn og Fjordane, Buskerud, Akershus, Oslo and Hedmark. The county administration was located in the town of Lillehammer. Merger On 1 January 2020, the neighboring counties of Oppland and Hedmark were merged to form the new Innlandet county. Both Oppland and Hedmark were the only landlocked counties of Norway, and the new Innlandet county is the only landlocked county in Norway. The two counties had historically been one county that was divided in 1781. Historically, the region was commonly known as "Opplandene". In 1781, the government split the area into two: Hedemarkens amt and Kristians amt (later renamed Hedmark and Oppland). In 2017, the government approved the merger of the two counties. Fritt Ord Honorary Award
Fritt Ord Award consists of two prizes awarded by the Fritt Ord Foundation (''Stiftelsen Fritt Ord''). Two prizes are awarded in support of freedom of speech and freedom of expression; the Fritt Ord Award () and the Fritt Ord Honorary Award (). These are awards are distributed annually during the month of May in connection with the anniversary of the liberation of Norway at the end of World War II in May 1945. Prizes are awarded to one or more persons or organizations that have contributed to areas where the organization works, especially in the work of freedom of expression. In addition to a monetary reward, the award includes a statue by sculptor Nils Aas. Brandbu
Brandbu is a village in Gran Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located in Hadeland, along the eastern shore of the large lake Randsfjorden, about to the northwest of the capital city of Oslo. Brandbu and its neighboring village of Jaren have grown together through conurbation and Statistics Norway has considered them as one, single urban settlement for many years. The village of Brandbu/Jaren has a population (2021) of 4,848 and a population density of . The Norwegian Farmers and Smallholders Union () is an interest organization for farmers in Norway. It is a labour union and a trade union, founded in 1913, and negotiates with the Norwegian Agrarian Association against the Norwegian Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion about agricultural subsidies.
