Ângelo Carvalho
Ângelo Ferreira Carvalho (3 August 1925 – 8 October 2008), was a Portuguese footballer who played for FC Porto, as defender. International career Carvalho gained 15 caps for the Portugal national team and made his debut 9 April 1950 in Lisbon, a 2-2 draw against Spain in the Qualification for the 1950 World Cup. Club career Carvalho played for Sport Lisboa e Benfica for fourteen years. He made his first team-debut in 1943 at a young age and soon established himself as a key figure in the midfield. The Primeira Liga (), also known as Liga Portugal Betclic for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Portugal and the highest level of the Portuguese football league system. Organised and supervised by the Liga Portugal, it has been contested by 18 teams since the 2014–15 season, with the three lowest-placed teams relegated to the Liga Portugal 2 and replaced by the top-three non-reserve teams from this division. Founded in 1934 as Campeonato da Liga da Primeira Divisão, it was named Campeonato Nacional da Primeira Divisão from 1938 until 1999, when it was changed to its current naming. A total of 34 teams entered the qualification rounds of the 1950 FIFA World Cup, competing for a total of 16 spots in the final tournament.
