Âge Maniax
is a Japanese adult video game and visual novel brand owned by . They have also produced work under the names Mirage and Φâge. âge was formerly known as Relic and developed video games for consoles. It gained fame following the release of its 2001 adult visual novel ''Kimi ga Nozomu Eien''. It was founded by Hirohiko Yoshida, Baka Prince Persia, Nanpuureima, Spin Drill, and Carnelian. In 2011, Hirohito Yoshida created a rights management company for âge‘s content called "ixtl", subsequently a copyright transfer agreement was signed with ACID Co. A visual novel (VN) is a form of digital interactive fiction. Visual novels are often associated with the medium of video games, but are not always labeled as such themselves. They combine a textual narrative with static or animated illustrations and a varying degree of interactivity. The format is more likely referred to as a visual novel game. Akane Maniax
is a visual novel released for the PC by âge in 2002. It was followed by a three-part video, simply titled ''Akane Maniax'', which was released in 2004. It is a prequel of sorts to ''Muv-Luv'' and side story to ''Kimi ga Nozomu Eien'', and features Akane Suzumiya from ''Kimi ga Nozomu Eien'' as its main heroine. Like ''Muv-Luv Extra'' and unlike ''Kimi ga Nozomu Eien'', it focuses more on comedy than drama. The game starts several weeks after the end of ''Kimi ga Nozomu Eien'' and ends a day before ''Muv-Luv Extra'' starts. Most of the main characters from ''Muv-Luv'' can be seen in the game. It was originally released in parts with Tech GIAN without voice acting, but was later released as a game with full voice acting for members of âge's official fanclub. There is also a three episode OVA roughly based on the game, with the first DVD released on November 25, 2004. The series was animated by Silver. It was later remade as a DVD game and ported to PlayStation 2 (PS2) and PlayStation Portable (PSP).
