テ《geir Jテウnsson (born 21 June 1970) is an Icelandic economist, teacher and author. He has been a notable contributor to the Icelandic policy debate during the boom and crisis periods. He is the son of Jテウn Bjarnason, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries (2009-2011). He is the current governor of the Central Bank of Iceland. Career Currently, Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Iceland and an economic adviser at Virテーing. During the 2000s テ《geir was the Chief economist for Kaupthing Bank and head of its analytic department. After the Icelandic banking collapse he wrote a book on the crisis. In July 2019, he was appointed the governor of the Central Bank of Iceland. Education テ《geir received a BS degree in economics from the University of Iceland in 1994. An agronomist by training, he served as Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture in the years 2009窶2011. He is a former member of the Left-Green Movement. Kaupthing Bank (, ) was a major international Icelandic bank, headquartered in Reykjavテュk, Iceland. It was taken over by the Icelandic government during the 2008窶2011 Icelandic financial crisis and the domestic Icelandic-based operations were spun into a new bank ''New Kaupthing'', which was subsequently renamed Arion banki, Arion Banki.
