Old Norse
Old Norse, also referred to as Old Nordic or Old Scandinavian, was a stage of development of North Germanic languages, North Germanic dialects before their final divergence into separate Nordic languages. Ásdís Egilsdóttir
Ásdís Egilsdóttir (born 1946) is a former professor in the Faculty of Icelandic and Comparative Cultural Studies at the University of Iceland. Professional career Ásdís completed a BA degree in Icelandic, Library Science and French at the University of Iceland in 1970 and a Cand. mag. degree in Icelandic Literature in 1982. She worked at the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies during the period 1970–1989 and was furthermore a part-time lecturer at the University of Iceland until she was appointed Assistant Professor in Medieval Icelandic Literature in 1991. She was promoted to the position of Professor in 2009 and retired due to age at the end of October 2016. Ásdís Thoroddsen (born 26 February 1959) is an Icelandic director, producer, screenwriter, and actress. Biography Thoroddsen was born on 26 February 1959 in Reykjavík, Iceland. She started her career in film as an assistant on the set of an adaptation of Halldór Laxness's novel ''Le Paradis'' for the German channel NDR in 1979. After working at the RÚV from 1979 to 1981, she studied theater in Gothenburg. In 1983, she starred in the film ''Skilaboð til Söndru'' by Kristin Pálsdóttir. The same year, she joined the German Academy of Film and Television Berlin. Martha Ásdís Hjálmarsdóttir is a professor in biomedical science in the Department of Biomedical Science at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Iceland and is the head of department there. Professional experience Martha graduated from Akureyri Junior College in 1971 (upper secondary school), completed undergraduate education in Biomedical Science from Icelandic Technical College (now merged with Reykjavik University), in 1973 and a doctorate in Biomedical Science from the University of Iceland in 2016.
