ﾃ］gela Altagracia Carrasco Rodrﾃｭguez (born January 23, 1951) is a Dominican singer. Carrasco was born in Montecristi. At age 7, she first appeared in an advertising world, singing the theme for a drink to a tune that composed by Salvador Sturla. Carrasco was part of a group of Latin American divas in the 1970s, including Susana Gimﾃｩnez, Charytﾃｭn Goyco, Iris Chacﾃｳn, Ednita Nazario, and Yolandita Monge. Early life and career Carrasco moved from her native country to Spain, where she enjoyed success. San Fernando de Monte Cristi, also known as Montecristi, is the capital town of Monte Cristi Province in the Dominican Republic. It is located in the northwest region of the country in a coastal area above the border with Haiti. The town was at the forefront in many of the advances including the first aqueduct, first railroad and telephone in the island.
