Álvaro Velasco (golfer)
Álvaro Velasco Roca (born 15 May 1981) is a Spanish professional golfer. Early life and amateur career Velasco was born in Barcelona and attended Coastal Carolina University on a golf scholarship where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Professional career In 2005, Velasco turned professional. He worked his way through the ranks graduating to the top level European Tour in 2008. Velasco finished 100th on the Order of Merit in 2008, but fell back to the second tier Challenge Tour in 2010 having finished 189th in the Race to Dubai rankings in 2009. He recorded the biggest win of his career at the 2010 Fred Olsen Challenge de España, before trumping this by winning the Kazakhstan Open, the Challenge Tour's biggest event. He would also win the Challenge Tour Rankings, to secure a return to the main tour. At the 2018 Mediterranean Games, Velasco won a gold medal in the men's team competition. The 2005 European Amateur Team Championship took place 28 June – 2 July at Hillside Golf Club in Southport, England. It was the 24th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue The club was founded in 1911. The course, located in Southport, 20 kilometres north of the city center of Liverpool, England, is a links course, with all the holes being between and on mainly large dunes and local indigenous pinewoods, typical of the area. It is physically close to both the Royal Birkdale Golf Club, near its south-western boundaries, and to the Southport and Ainsdale Golf Club. The European Amateur Team Championship is a European amateur team golf championship for men organised by the European Golf Association which was introduced in 1959. The championship was played in odd-numbered years from 1959 to 2007 and has been played annually since 2008 (with the exception of 2012). Kristoffer Per Thomas Broberg (born 1 August 1986) is a Swedish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Professional career Broberg started his professional career in 2010, winning twice on the Swedish mini tour. The following two years he won four events on the Nordic Golf League. He qualified to play on the Challenge Tour in 2012. He won the second event he played in, the Finnish Challenge on 5 August. He won again the next week at the Norwegian Challenge. Broberg won for a third time that month at the Rolex Trophy to earn an instant promotion to the European Tour; he was the fastest player ever to achieve this having played just five events in the season.
