Álvaro Quirós
Álvaro Quirós García (born 21 January 1983) is a Spanish professional golfer. Quirós was born in Guadiaro (town), Guadiaro, a borough of San Roque, Cádiz. He turned professional in 2004. Professional career Quirós played on the Challenge Tour in 2006, winning one tournament, and went on to earn his place on the PGA European Tour, European Tour for the 2007 season by finishing in the top 35 at final qualifying school. He won the first European Tour event he entered as a European Tour card-holder at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, played in South Africa. Quirós claimed his second European Tour win at the 2008 Portugal Masters, where he finished with birdies at both 17 and 18 on Sunday, to win by three strokes over Paul Lawrie. San Roque, Cádiz
San Roque is a municipality of Spain belonging to the province of Cádiz, which in turn is part of the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is also part of the of Campo de Gibraltar. Located in the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula, San Roque is a short way inland of the north side of the Bay of Gibraltar, to the north of the Gibraltar peninsula. The municipality has a total surface of 145 km2 with a population of approximately 25,500 people, as of 2005. The Acciona Open de España (formerly the Spanish Open) is the national open golf championship of Spain. It was founded in 1912 and has been part of the European Tour's schedule since the inception of the Tour in 1972. The tournament has been played in April or May, except for a five-year period in the early 1980s and since the 2019 edition, when the tournament was moved to October. The 2008 European Tour was the 37th season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Charl Schwartzel
Charl Adriaan Schwartzel ( ; born 31 August 1984) is a South African professional golfer who currently plays in the LIV Golf Invitational Series and has previously played on the PGA Tour, European Tour and the Sunshine Tour. He has won one major title, the Masters in 2011. Schwartzel's highest world ranking has been number six, after finishing in a tie for fourth at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in 2012. The 2007 European Tour was the 36th season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Changes for 2007 There were three new tournaments, the Joburg Open in South Africa, the Open de Andalucía in Spain and the Portugal Masters. Zander Lombard
Zander Lombard (born 18 January 1995) is a South African professional golfer. Amateur career As an amateur, Lombard won several events in Africa and represented South Africa in the Eisenhower Trophy in 2012 and 2014. In 2014, he was runner-up at The Amateur Championship, losing to Bradley Neil in the final, 2 and 1. He turned professional in late 2014. Professional career Lombard earned a spot in the 2016 Open Championship after a second-place finish at the Joburg Open, an Open Qualifying Series event. He made the cut, and finished tied for 66th. The Dubai Desert Classic is a European Tour golf tournament held on Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Volvo China Open is a men's golf tournament that has been held annually in China since 1995. Official World Golf Ranking
The Official World Golf Ranking is a system for rating the performance level of professional golfers. It was started in 1986. The rankings are based on a player's position in individual tournaments (i.e. not pairs or team events) over a "rolling" two-year period. New rankings are calculated each week. During 2018, nearly 400 tournaments on 20 tours were covered by the ranking system. All players competing in these tournaments are included in the rankings. In 2025, 24 tours factored into the world rankings. As well as being of general interest, the rankings have an additional importance, in that they are used as one of the qualifying criteria for entry into a number of leading tournaments. Dubai World Championship
The DP World Tour Championship is a golf tournament on the European Tour and is the climax of the Race to Dubai. It is contested on the Greg Norman-designed Earth course at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The title sponsor is DP World, based in Dubai. The tournament was first held in 2009 when the Order of Merit was replaced by the Race to Dubai. It is contested by the leading 50 players in the DP World Tour Rankings at the start of the tournament.
