Álvaro Pierri
Álvaro Pierri (born 1953 in Montevideo, Uruguay) is a classical guitarist. He is a professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He received his early musical education from his mother, Ada Estades and aunt, Olga Pierri, on the guitar. Later he studied with Abel Carlevaro, the composer Guido Santórsola at the Uruguayan National Institute of Musicology. From the age of 11 he was winning prizes in international guitar competitions, including 1st Prize in the International Guitar Competition in Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1st Prize in the International Guitar Competition in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and the gold medal at 18th International Competition by France Musique/Radio France in Paris. Carlo Domeniconi (born 20 February 1947)Summerfield 2003. is an Italian guitarist and composer. Although his compositions include a wide variety of genres and instrumentation choices, he is best known for his works for solo guitar, and particularly the ''Koyunbaba'' suite. Domeniconi's style is characterized by his adoption of multicultural influences. His works explore and borrow from a wide variety of national traditions, including Turkish, Indian, Brazilian, and many more. Biography Domeniconi was born in Cesena, Italy. He received his first formal guitar lessons in 1960 from Carmen Lenzi Mozzani, granddaughter of the famous guitarist and luthier Luigi Mozzani. Villa Musica is a foundation of the German state Rhineland-Palatinate and the broadcaster Südwestrundfunk. Its goals are to support young performers of classical music and to run concerts. It is based in Mainz at the . A second institute of the foundation, the ''Akademie für Kammermusik'' (Academy of Chamber Music), is located at Schloss Engers in Neuwied.
