Alvaro Martins Homem (c.1490-1535) was a Portugal, Portuguese nobleman and the 3rd Donatary-Captain of Praia da Vitória. Biography Álvaro was born in Praia da Vitória, Portugal, son of Antão Martins Homem and Isabel de Ornelas da Câmara, a noble lady, great-great-granddaughter of Sancho de Herrera de Saavedra (surname), Saavedra, and descendant of :pt:João Peres de Vasconcelos, João Peres de Vasconcelos. He was married to Beatriz de Noronha, daughter of João de Noronha and Inês de Abreu, a noblewoman, belonging to the family of João Fernandes de Andrade and Beatriz Gomes de Abreu. The marriage between Martins Homen and Beatriz de Noronha, was performed in 1519 in the Ribeira Palace, due to the illustrious ancestry of the Noronha family, among whose ancestors was Alfonso Enríquez, Count of Gijón and Noreña, son of Henry II of Castile. Antão Martins Homem (1450s–1531) was a Portuguese nobleman, 2nd Donatary-Captain of Praia. He succeeded his father Álvaro Martins, in the captaincy of the Terceira Island. Biography Antão was the son of Álvaro Martins Homem, the 1st Donatary-Captain of Vila da Praia and Inês Martins Cardoso, along with siblings Catarina Cardoso, Fernão Martins Ferreira and Luís Martins Homem. The family of Antão Martins Homem was descended from Pedro Homem da Costa one of the fabled The Twelve of England. Praia da Vitória (; translating as "Beach of Victory") is a municipality in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. With a population of 21,035 (in 2011), the second largest administrative authority on the island of Terceira, it covers an area of , that extends from the northern coast halfway into the interior.
