Ágnes Hankiss
Ágnes Hankiss (born Ágnes Erdős; 7 March 1950 – 17 August 2021) was a Hungarian politician and elected Member of the European Parliament (MEP) with Fidesz, a member of the European People's Party. She was born and died in Budapest, Hungary. Her son is politician and traffic expert Dávid Vitézy. Hankiss is best known in English for her 1992 historical novel ''A Hungarian Romance: A Novel''. Politics Of Hungary
The politics of Hungary take place in a framework of a parliamentary representative democratic republic. The prime minister is the head of government of a pluriform multi-party system, while the president is the head of state and holds a largely ceremonial position. As of 2024, The country is considered " no longer a full democracy" by the EU, and is generally said to have democratically backslid since 2010 when the Fidesz–KDNP Party Alliance led by Viktor Orbán won a two-third parliamentary supermajority and adopted a new constitution of Hungary that have both remained in place since. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is vested in both the government and the parliament. The party system since the last elections has been dominated by the conservative Fidesz. Dávid Vitézy (born 1 December 1985) is a Hungarian economist, transport and urban mobility expert, politician, who served as Secretary of State for Transport in the Fifth Orbán Government for a brief time from May to November 2022. He was a candidate for Mayor of Budapest in the 2024 Budapest mayoral election. He was a prominent member of the NGO Urban and Suburban Transport Association (VEKE) from 2000 to 2010. He was inaugural CEO of Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK) between 2010 and 2014. He was ministerial commissioner overseeing the development of public transport, especially the coordination of regional and long-distance relations within the Ministry of National Development for some months in 2015.
