Ágatha Bednarczuk
Ágatha Bednarczuk Rippel (born 22 June 1983), frequently referred to as just ''Ágatha'', is a Brazilian international beach volleyball player, playing as a blocker. She won the gold medal at the 2015 World Championships, as well as a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics, alongside her teammate Bárbara Seixas. Biography Born in Curitiba to Maria José Vagnoni Moscardi and Alfredo Bednarczuk, Bednarczuk is of Polish and Italian ancestry. She started competing in the city of Paranaguá, and became famous after competing at the 2005 Beach Volleyball World Championships. She was part of the Swatch FIVB World Tour 2008 and 2012. Bednarczuk also competed at the 2013 Beach Volleyball World Championships and was on the 2014 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. Laura Ludwig-Bowes (born 13 January 1986) is a German professional beach volleyball player, playing as a defender. Previously forming a pair with compatriot Kira Walkenhorst, she represents Hamburger SV and has won four European championships. She won the gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. April Elizabeth Ross (born June 20, 1982) is a former American beach volleyball player and three-time Olympic medalist. She won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics with Jennifer Kessy, a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics with Kerri Walsh Jennings, and a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics with Alix Klineman. Ross and Kessy were also the 2009 Beach Volleyball World Champions. Early life Ross grew up in Newport Beach, California, where she attended Newport Harbor High School. There she played volleyball and basketball with fellow 2012 Olympian Esther Lofgren. Kerri Lee Walsh Jennings (born August 15, 1978) is an American professional beach volleyball player, three-time Olympic gold medalist, and a one-time Olympic bronze medalist. She is the beach volleyball leader in career victories as of 2016 having won 135 international and domestic tournaments. (Disputed: The source includes only American domestic titles.) Walsh Jennings and teammate Misty May-Treanor were the gold medalists in beach volleyball at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. The 2014 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour is an international beach volleyball circuit organized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB). From this season, the FIVB World Tour calendar comprises the 10 FIVB World Tour Grand Slams and 10 Open tournaments. The Phuket Open was originally scheduled for October but was cancelled due to political unrest in Thailand. La Réunion Open (men) and Chennai Open (both gender) were later cancelled also.
