À Punt
À Punt () is a Valencian free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the Valencian Media Corporation. It is the corporation's flagship and currently only television channel, and broadcasts mainstream programming mainly in the Valencian language. It is part of FORTA. The channel began regular broadcasts on 25 April 2018, as a successor of the defunct Nou, Nou 24 and Nou Dos, and is broadcast through the same multiplex. Availability À Punt is available exclusively in the Valencian Community. Originally, it was intended to also be available in other Catalan-speaking territories, namely Catalonia and Balearic Islands, as is the case with TV3 and IB3 respectively, and to recover the defunct broadcasting of these channels in the area, but the Spanish government rejected the multiplex needed to establish it. Valencian Media Corporation (Valencian: ''Corporació Valenciana de Mitjans de Comunicació'' ), also known by its acronym CVMC, is an agency of the Generalitat Valenciana The Generalitat Valenciana is the generic name covering the different self-government institutions under which the Spanish autonomous community of Valencia is politically organized. Flagship (broadcasting)
In broadcasting, a flagship (also known as a flagship station or key station) is the broadcast station which originates a television network, or a particular radio or television program that plays a key role in the branding of and consumer loyalty to a network or station. This includes both direct network feeds and broadcast syndication, but generally not backhauls. Not all networks or shows have a flagship station, as some originate from a dedicated radio or television studio. The term derives from the naval custom where the commanding officer of a group of naval ships would fly a distinguishing flag. In common parlance, "flagship" is now used to mean the most important or leading member of a group, hence its various uses in broadcasting. The term ''flagship station'' is primarily used in TV and radio in the United States, Canada, and the Philippines (though it is seldomly used), while the term is primarily used in TV in Japan (and formerly in the United States). Valencia Metro Derailment
The Valencia Metro derailment occurred in Valencia, Spain's third largest city, on 3 July 2006 at 1 p.m. CEST (1100 UTC) between Jesús and Plaça d'Espanya stations on the Line 1 of the Metrovalencia mass transit system. At least 43 people were killed and more than ten were seriously injured. Valencian forensic scientists identified all but one of the victims — a woman whose family has not claimed her, according to ''El PaÃs''. Twenty-one of the victims were from Torrent, a locality seven kilometres from Valencia and the train's destination. Five more victims were from the city of Valencia itself, and two were from Paiporta, which is also nearby. Gürtel Case
The Gürtel case was a major political corruption scandal in Spain that implicated hundreds of officers of the People's Party (Spain), People's Party (PP), Spain's major Conservatism, conservative party, some of whom were subsequently forced to resign or were suspended. Gürtel is one of the largest corruption scandals in recent European history and was linked to related scandals, such as the Bárcenas case, which received media attention in their own right. The case came to public attention in early 2009, but for the most part, the suspects were not put on trial until October 2016. The Generalitat Valenciana is the generic name covering the different self-government institutions under which the Spanish autonomous community of Valencia is politically organized. IB3 () is a publicly funded Balearic television station. IB3 began test transmissions on 1 March 2005—the holiday known as "Balearic Islands Day"—with the first regular broadcast beginning on 5 September 2005. TV3 () is the primary television channel of Catalan public broadcaster Televisió de Catalunya, a subsidiary of the CCMA. TV3 broadcasts programmes only in Catalan and Aranese, with an optional dual track in the original language for some foreign-language series and movies, although Spanish is not dubbed or subtitled. A multiplex or mux, also known as a bouquet, is a grouping of program services as interleaved data packets for broadcast over a network or modulated multiplexed medium, particularly terrestrial broadcasting. The program services are broadcast as part of one transmission and split out at the receiving end. Canal Nou Dos () was the second channel launched by Radiotelevisió Valenciana on 9 October 1997. The channel was launched under the name ''NotÃcies 9'', a channel dedicated to informative programmes made by RTVV. It changed its name to ''Punt 2'' after it began to show informative, documentary and cultural, as well as sport programmes during the weekend.
