.416 Ruger
The .416 Ruger is a .41 caliber (10.6 x 65.5mm), rimless, bottleneck cartridge designed as a joint venture by Hornady and Ruger in 2008. It is designed to equal the performance of the .416 Rigby and .416 Remington Magnum from a standard length .30-06 length action. The .416 Ruger is suitable for the largest land animals, including dangerous game. Description The .416 Ruger is based on the earlier .375 Ruger. This family of cartridges has the same base diameter as the belt of the .375 H&H Magnum and its derivatives, which provides the cartridge a larger propellant capacity than a standard length magnum cartridge of the same length, such as the .338 Winchester Magnum. The resultant cartridge duplicates the performance of the .416 Rigby and the .416 Remington Magnum. Unlike these cartridges, however, the .416 Ruger can be chambered in a standard-length action, as the cartridge has an overall length of 3.34 inches. The .416 Ruger cartridge is currently available in the bolt ...

Table Of Handgun And Rifle Cartridges
This is a table of selected pistol/submachine gun and rifle/machine gun cartridges by common name. Data values are the highest found for the cartridge, and might not occur in the same load (e.g. the highest muzzle energy might not be in the same load as the highest muzzle velocity, since the bullet weights can differ between loads). Legend * Factory loadings. Number of manufacturers producing complete cartridges - e.g. Norma, RWS, Hornady, Winchester, Federal, Remington, Sellier & Bellot, Prvi Partizan. May be none for obsolete and wildcat cartridges. * H/R: Handgun (H) or rifle (R) - dominant usage of the cartridge (although several dual-purpose cartridges exist) * Size: Metric size - may not be official * MV: Muzzle velocity, in feet-per-second * ME: Muzzle energy, in foot-pounds * P: Momentum, in pound (force) (lbf) times seconds. Ammunition
Ammunition, also known as ammo, is the material fired, scattered, dropped, or detonated from any weapon or weapon system. The term includes both expendable weapons (e.g., bombs, missiles, grenades, land mines), and the component parts of other weapons that create the effect on a target (e.g., bullets and warheads). The purpose of ammunition is to project a force against a selected Targeting (warfare), target to have an effect (usually, but not always, lethal). An example of ammunition is the firearm Cartridge (firearms), cartridge, which includes all components required to deliver the weapon effect in a single package. Until the 20th century, black powder was the most common propellant used but has now been replaced in nearly all cases by modern compounds. Ammunition comes in a great range of sizes and types and is often designed to work only in specific weapons systems. However, there are internationally recognized standards for certain ammunition types (e.g., 5.56×45mm NA ...

Ruger M77
The Ruger M77 is a bolt-action rifle produced by Sturm, Ruger & Co. It was designed by Jim Sullivan during his three years with Ruger. It was designed primarily as a hunting rifle featuring a traditional Mauser K98-style two-lugged bolt with a claw extractor. History Ruger's first bolt action rifle was introduced to the U.S. market back in 1968 after some years of design and innovation led by Jim Sullivan and influenced Bill Ruger himself, who hired Sullivan in 1965 primarily to develop the rifle. Investment casting was used to save on costs. Ruger M77's popularity rose fast due to features such as the Mauser type claw extractor that filled a gap in the market that occurred in 1964 when Winchester discontinued the controlled round feed version of the Model 70 in order to compete with the recently introduced Remington 700, as well as for the writings of the late Jack O'Connor favoring the rifle. Design and features From the beginning, the Ruger M77 was intended as a modern ...

Rifle
A rifle is a long gun, long-barreled firearm designed for accurate shooting and higher stopping power, with a gun barrel, barrel that has a helical or spiralling pattern of grooves (rifling) cut into the bore wall. In keeping with their focus on accuracy, rifles are typically designed to be held with both hands and braced firmly against the shooter's shoulder via a buttstock for stability during shooting. Rifles are used in warfare, law enforcement, hunting and shooting sports, target shooting sports. The invention of rifling separated such firearms from the earlier smoothbore weapons (e.g., arquebuses, muskets, and other long guns), greatly elevating their accuracy and general effectiveness. The raised areas of a barrel's rifling are called ''lands''; they make contact with and exert torque on the projectile as it moves down the bore, imparting a spin. When the projectile leaves the barrel, this spin persists and lends gyroscopic stability to the projectile due to conservatio ...
