"(Believed You Were) Lucky" is a song by American band 'Til Tuesday, released in 1988 as the lead single from their third and final studio album, '' Everything's Different Now''. The song was written by Aimee Mann (music, lyrics) and Jules Shear (music), and produced by Rhett Davies. "(Believed You Were) Lucky" peaked at No. 95 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100. The single version of the song, which is also used on the video, is different to the album version, replacing the final profane chorus with a non-profane version. Til Tuesday is an American new wave band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The band, consisting of Aimee Mann (lead vocals, bass), Robert Holmes (guitar), Joey Pesce (keyboards), and Michael Hausman (drums), was active from 1982 to 1989. They are best known for their 1985 hit single " Voices Carry". 'Til Tuesday disbanded in 1990 when Mann left to begin a solo career. History 'Til Tuesday first gained fame six months after its formation when it won Boston's WBCN Rock & Roll Rumble in 1983. Bob Clearmountain (born Chiaramonte, January 15, 1953) is an American mixing engineer and record producer, best known for his work with major acts, including Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Roxy Music, Pretenders, and Bryan Adams. Mike Thorne (born 25 January 1948) is an English record producer, arranger, composer, engineer, and musician. He started playing the piano at the age of 10. After studying physics at Hertford College, Oxford, in the late 1960s he worked as a tape operator in London with Deep Purple and many others. Later he worked as a music journalist, A&R man and in the late 1970s he became a record producer. Hausman attended Berklee College of Music and played with a Boston band called The Dark before becoming the drummer for the new wave band 'Til Tuesday in the mid-1980s; the group's best-known hit, " Voices Carry" is said to have been inspired by an argument between Hausman and bandmate (and one-time girlfriend) Aimee Mann. Robert Holmes born March 31, 1959 is an English-born guitarist, best known for his work as guitarist/vocalist/writer in the American new wave band 'Til Tuesday, the former band of Aimee Mann. He first moved to America with his family at the age of seven. From 'til Tuesday to Ultra Blue In 1988, he formed a bluesy rock quartet called Ultra Blue with his wife Glenda who sang backups for Robert and occasionally sang lead. Ultra Blue won best new artist at the Boston Music Awards in 1989 and made many recordings. Several sessions were paid for by Epic records but a recording contract never materialized.
