On September 18, 2020, Gilmartin had his contract selected by the Rays for a third time. On September 29, Gilmartin was designated for assignment by the Rays for a third time. With the 2020 Tampa Bay Rays, Gilmartin appeared in 2 games, compiling a 0–0 record with 8.31 ERA and 5 strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched. He became a free agent on November 2, 2020.
