History

The parish was created in 1894, combining the two previous parishes of the same names. Several locational surnames were derived from Satterleigh. Some of those include Saturley, Saturleigh, Saterleigh, Saterleye, Satterlie, Satterlee, Satterleigh, Satterley, and Satterly.
