As of August 3, 2006, the Board of Spokesperson of the Congress of the Republic, as well as the Multi-Party Board, which decides the organization of the different work commissions in Congress, appointed him as Coordinator of the Energy and Mines By tradition the coordinators later become Commission Chairs.
