He is credited to have stabilized the state finances, and his stint saw an increase in Punjab GSDP from Rs 4.71 lakh crore in 2017-18 to Rs 5.25 lakh crore registering an 11.5 per cent annual increase, while the GDP grew by 9.41 per cent to reach Rs 5,74,760 crore. The per capita income of the state went up from Rs 1.28 lakh per annum in 2016 to Rs 1.67 lakh in 2020, almost a 30 per cent increase.
