Ampang is known for its diverse ethnic makeup. Data from MPAJ shows that 56.5% of Ampang Jaya's residents are Malays, while the Chinese make up about 30%. Indians make up 7%, while the remainder is made up of other ethnicities, nationalities and expatriates.
