Zampa described being dropped as a "kick in the guts", saying his recent form indicated he was one of the best Twenty20 spin bowlers in the world. Without Zampa Australia lost both the match and the series. Zampa was brought back into the side for the final match of the series, and he was named the man of the match with 3/25 as Australia won the game. Despite all of Zampa's successes in the shorter forms of cricket, he was still unable to break into Australia's Test side.
