It is an erect or spreading shrub with cylindrical leaves and orange-yellow, pea-like flowers. Description ''Gompholobium simplicifolium'' is an erect or spreading shrub that typically grows to a height of and has hairy stems. The leaves are cylindrical, arranged in opposite pairs, long, wide and hairy. The flowers are orange-yellow, each flower on a hairy Pedicel (botany), pedicel about long with hairy Bract#Bracteole, bracteoles long. Ralph Tate (11 March 1840 – 20 September 1901) was a British-born botanist and geologist, who was later active in Australia. Early life Tate was born at Alnwick in Northumberland, the son of Thomas Turner Tate (1807–1888), a teacher of mathematics and science, and his wife Frances (née Hunter). He was nephew to George Tate (topographer), George Tate (1805–1871), Natural history, naturalist and archaeologist, an active member of the Berwickshire Naturalists' Club. Tate was educated at the University of Gloucestershire, Cheltenham Training College and at the Royal School of Mines. The Gibson Desert is a large desert in Western Australia, largely in an almost pristine state. It is about in size, making it the fifth largest desert in Australia, after the Great Victoria, Great Sandy, Tanami and Simpson deserts.
