Henry Hitchcock (3 July 1829 – 18 March 1902) was a lawyer from St. Louis, Missouri. Born in Spring Hill, near Mobile, Alabama, he was the great-grandson of Ethan Allen. His father, also named Henry Hitchcock, was born in Burlington, Vermont, and was named Secretary of the Territory of Alabama, and later was successively Attorney General and Chief Justice of the State of Alabama. His brother, Ethan Hitchcock, was Secretary of the Interior under Presidents William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt. Hitchcock attended the University of Nashville and Yale University. Bellefontaine Cemetery
Bellefontaine Cemetery is a nonprofit, non-denominational cemetery and arboretum in St. Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1849 as a rural cemetery, Bellefontaine is home to a number of architecturally significant monuments and mausoleums such as the Louis Sullivan-designed Wainwright Tomb, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
