Virgilio Piñera
Virgilio Piñera Llera ( Cárdenas, Cuba, August 4, 1912 – Havana, October 18, 1979) was a Cuban author, playwright, poet, short story writer, essayist and translator. His most notorious works are the poem ''La isla en peso'' (1943), the collection of short stories ''Cuentos Fríos'' (1956), the novel ''La carne de René'' (1952) and the playwright ''Electra Garrigó'' (1959). He is also known for his role in the translation into Spanish of the novel '' Ferdydurke'', by Polish writer Witold Gombrowicz. Piñera is one of the most celebrated authors of Cuban literature. His work explores alienation, absurd and madness, featuring characters that often find themselves in ridiculous and grotesque scenarios. He was openly homosexual; however, born into a Christian family, Piñera struggled with guilt and later, after the Cuban Revolution, with the government's ostracism. Virgilio Barco Vargas
Virgilio Barco Vargas (17 September 1921 – 20 May 1997) was a Colombian politician and civil engineer who served as the 27th President of Colombia serving from 7 August 1986 to 7 August 1990. Early life Barco was born in Cúcuta in the Norte de Santander Department of Colombia to Jorge Enrique Barco Maldonado and Julieta Vargas Durán. He studied Civil Engineering at the National University of Colombia and at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from which he graduated in 1943. He entered politics in 1943 when he became a city council member for the Liberal Party in the town of Durania. He was then elected to the lower house of Congress, but went into exile to the US in 1950 because of violence between liberals and conservatives. His daughter, Carolina Barco Isakson (who would later become a Colombian politician herself) was born there. Virgilio is a ''frazione'' of the ''comune'' (municipality) of Borgo Virgilio in the Province of Mantua in the Italian region Lombardy, located about southeast of Milan and about south of Mantua. It was a separate ''comune'' until 2014. Virgilio Olivar Garcillano (born ''c.''1948) also known as ''Garci'', is a former official of the Philippine Commission on Elections who allegedly was involved in Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's alleged electoral fraud in the Hello Garci scandal. Garcillano was missing as he is suspected to be in hiding, initially abroad but recently in the country. Some sources stated that he was seen leaving the Philippines for Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. Other sources also stated that Garcillano was seen boarding a jet en route to Singapore. Garcillano also momentarily was seen in Surigao City, particularly in a beach resort under heavy guard. An arrest warrant was issued to his last known address in Cagayan de Oro City but his father-in-law refused to sign it, but it was considered served. Virgilio Noè
Virgilio Noè (30 March 1922 – 24 July 2011) was an Italian Roman Catholic prelate and cardinal. He was elevated to the cardinalate in 1991. Early life and ministry Noè was born in 1922 in Zelata di Bereguardo, Lombardy. He studied at the Seminary of Pavia and was ordained a priest on 1 October 1944 by the Bishop of Pavia, Carlo Allorio. After ordination he became parish priest of the parish of San Salvatore in Pavia and founded a youth association to promote participation in the liturgy. In 1948, Bishop Allorio sent him to Rome to study at the Pontifical Gregorian University, where he earned a doctorate in ecclesiastical history in 1952, with a thesis entitled "The Religious Policies of the Lombard Kings". He taught Ecclesiastical History, Patristics, Liturgy and Art History in the seminaries of Pavia and Tortona. Publius Vergilius Maro (; traditional dates 15 October 7021 September 19 BC), usually called Virgil or Vergil ( ) in English, was an ancient Roman poet of the Augustan period. Virgilio Fossati (; 3 January 1891 – 25 December 1916) was an Italian association football, footballer and manager. A midfielder, he played for and coached Italian club Inter Milan, also representing the Italy national football team, Italy national team; he Captain (association football), captained both teams throughout his career. Career Fossati spent his entire career with Inter Milan. He played 97 times for the club and scored 4 goals. Throughout his career, Fossati served as Inter and Italy's captain and also the first Inter player to play with the Italy national football team, Italy national team.
